Nomenclature Berschauer (2017) designated a neotype for Fasciolaria papillosa that is conspecific with Fasciolaria gigantea, but this neotype designation has been judged invalid by Lyons & Lee [2018, Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature, 75: 195-203]. These authors concluded that Triplofusus giganteus is the valid name for the Florida "Horse Conch" and they regarded Fasciolaria papillosa as a nomen dubium. [details]
