Nomenclature: Bratcher & Cernohorsky (1987: 206) treated Terebra costellifera Pease, 1869, and Terebra thaanumi Pilsbry, 1921, as synonyms. They listed T. costellifera as a "nomen oblitum", and used T. thaanumi as the valid name. However, this reversal of priority does not meet the requirements of the ICZN Code (which accepts nomina oblita only if they were declared so between 1961 and 1972).
