Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorTaxonomy 3 specimens, syntypes, NHMUK 1969270. All three specimens are well preserved, and the smallest two have the early teleoconch - which is very much like the early teleoconch of Turritella terebra (Linnaeus, 1758) and allied species - intact or nearly intact. Examination of this very fine early teleoconch has shown that the first whorls are immediately decorated with 3 cords (as of the first post-larval whorl cf smallest syntype), being a stronger median keel, and two less strong keels, of which one above, and the other below the median keel. As the main characteristic of the genus Archimediella is the immediate post-larval appearance of two equal keels forming a bicarinate sculpture (as is seen after the early teleoconch which is missing in most specimens), it is here considered that the placement of this species in that genus was based on incomplete specimens only, and is hereby corrected based on the examinations of the early teleoconch of the middle sized and smallest syntype. [details]
