Taxonomic status: C. Vos 14/07/2011: Menke (1845, Z. Malak. vol. 2, p. 138) uses the name Dolium plicosum in a review of volume 10 of Deshayes' edition of Lamarck as: "Malea crassilabris Val. ist Dolium plicosum m. in lit.". Menke (1850 Z. Malak. vol. 7, Nr. 12, p. 182) again mentiones this name as follows: "Dolium crassilabre Mke = Dolium plicosum Mke in lit. und in Z. f. Mal. 1845. S. 138. ...". Menke does not mention the name Dolium plicosum in the 1828 nor 1830 Syn. meth. Moll, and there is no reference to that name or a similar one in the Index Animalium (Sherborn & Sykes, online version, last accessed 14/07/2011). Up to date and apart from the above mentioning in Menke (1845 and 1850) and subsequently of Winckworth & Tomlin (1933:211) I have found no further reference of this name in history. For that reason, it has not been listed in the synonymy of Malea ringens (Swainson, 1822) in the 2007 Iconography. [details] | ||||||||||
