Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorTaxonomy The name Papyridea soleniformis (Bruguiere, 1789), as used by most authors, embraces two taxa of marine cardiids found in the tropical Atlantic Ocean. Papyridea lata (Born, 1778) occurs in the western Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico. Born's specimen in the Zoologisches Museum, Vienna, labeled as Cardium latum variety roseo-macidata (891a), was designated as the lectotype by Watters (2002). Papyridea soleniformis (Bruguiere, 1789) is sympatric with P. lata, but also occurs in the eastern Atlantic Ocean. [details]
