Stellicola semperi was poorly described by Kossmann (1877: 13) back in the 19th century. It was inadvertently called “Lichomolgus (Stellicola) semperi” by Monod & Dollfus in 1932 (p. 142). When Humes & Stock (1973) reviewed the lichomolgoid copepods, this species was placed (p. 328) under “Lichomolgidae Insufficiently Described or of Uncertain Position.” Therefore, we don’t know the true identity of Stellicola semperi.
