Taxonomic remark Comments of Wojciech Piasecki:
Ho and Do 1984 dealt with, Clavellopsis trichiuri Yamaguti, 1939 and Brachiella trichiuri Gnanamuthu, 1951.

They suggested that the former is (the Japanese form) Neobrachiella trichiuri trichiuri
and the latter (the Indian form) Neobrachiella trichiuri indica, is a wrong interpretation; If they wanted to treat the Japanese form as a subspecies they should have proposed a name for it (e.g.)
Neobrachiella trichiuri JAPONICA Ho et Do, 1984 [which they didn’t]
Automatically, the basic subspecies would be: Neobrachiella trichiuri trichiuri (Yamaguti, 1939)

The same would be for the Indian form: Neobrachiella trichiuri indica Ho et Do, 1984, Automatically, the basic subspecies would be: Neobrachiella trichiuri trichiuri (Gnanamuthu, 1951)

As you can see, the tentative suggestion of Ho and Do (1984) is invalid in taxonomic understanding. First of all, they failed to designate a name for the Japanese form. Secondly, their reasoning would make Neobrachiella trichiuri trichiuri (Gnanamuthu, 1951) a junior homonym ofNeobrachiella trichiuri trichiuri (Yamaguti, 1939)

Ho and Do pointed out a similarity of those “subspecies” infecting the same fish species. Therefore, for me it is clear that Brachiella trichiuri Gnanamuthu, 1951 is the same species as Parabrachiella trichiuri (Yamaguti, 1939)

Piasecki and Młynarczyk (2010) listed the latter taxon as Parabrachiella trichiuri (Yamaguti, 1939).
