Editor's comment Vermilia violacea Quatrefages, 1866 was erroneously transferred to the genus Placostegus by Hartman in her Catalogue, probably since Quatrefages distinguished a category of Vermilia's with a flat calcareous operculum as (Placostegus, Philippi). It is a nomen oblitum, moreover taxon inquirendam, most probably a species of Spirobranchus such as cf. polytrema, or less likely corrugatus, or even a juvenile tetraceros. [details]
