Type locality Caribbean Sea, Netherlands Antilles, west coast of Aruba Island, Eagle Beach (12.3ºN, 70.0ºW; geocoordinates slightly displaced from Eagle Beach, corrected here to lat. 12.547147º, long. -70.060032º). [details]
Type material The SMF collection number of the holotype of Syllides caribica Licher, 1996 is SMF 4971, as stated in Licher (1996). The number SMF 5600, as appearing in Fiege & Wehe (2004), is a typographical error (Dieter Fiege, pers. comm. to João Gil, March 26 2015). [details]
Depth range Intertidal, at high tide line, at 0.50 cm depth.
Distribution Caribbean Sea, Aruba Island. Known only from the type locality.
Etymology The specific epithet caribica refers to the type locality of the species, in the Caribbean Sea.
