Type locality Southern Philippines, Siboga-expedition, Stat. 105, north off Soeloe island. Horst may have transcribed the placename wrongly from a label as the location of station 105 In Weber (1902) is 6° 8′ 0″ N, 121° 19′ 0″ E or 6.1333°, 121.3167, north of the Sulu archipelago, and there are almost no instances of the word 'soeloe' in all of the internet. In his full description in 1917 Horst corrects the name and gives the location correctly as "Stat. 105. 6°8' Lat. N., 121° 19' Long. E. North oft' Sulu Island. Depth 275 M. [details]

Etymology Parahalosydna sibogae is assumed named for the Siboga, the vessel from which the holotype was collected, and Horst would not have thought it necessary to explain this. 'Sibogae' as Latinized is a feminine genitive noun. The ship may have been named after Siboga (Sibolga) in North Sumatra province, Indonesia [details]
