Nomenclature The species was considered conspecific with Lychnorhiza lucerna (Mianzan & Cornelius, 1999; Silveira & Cornelius, 2000). Goy (1979) was the only one who saw recently collected individuals. Morandini (2009) studied the type specimen of L. lucerna and the only available material of C. cruciatus from Goy (1979) and considered both as the same species. Due to taxonomical implications Morandini (2009) proposed the reversal of precedence of the available names. The decision of the ICZN is not yet taken, but see Grygier (2013) and Morandini (2013) for further discussion. [details]
