Note  Taxonomic Remark: Deshayes (1843, Anim.s. vert. t. 9, p. 261) separated this species from Lamarck's Turritella terebra, attributing the name suggested by Adanson (Le Ligar, non binominal) to it.
It is not clear whether Deshayes had any actual specimens at the time of description, as the material of the MNHN and of Delessert was with Kiener at that time (fide Reeve, 1849). Lectotype designation could be possible through material in Delessert collection (issue subject to further examination).
