Notes  Description: Description: test plates with deep transverse pits at the corners; primary tubercles crenulate and imperforate; ambulacral plates each with a primary tubercle, spines banded with reddish grey (Sastry, 1995). Habitat: sandy substrata (Sastry, 1995).
Also distributed in SE Arabia, Persian Gulf, W India, Pakistas, Maldive area, Ceylon, Bay of Bengal, East Indies, north Australia, Philippine, China, south Japan and South Pacific Is. (Clark & Rowe, 1971); India (West Bengal); Andamans, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Gujarat (Sastry, 1995); Australia (Rowe & Gates, 1995).
General distribution: tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific Ocean, depth range 0-45 m. (Rowe & Gates, 1995); Indo-west Pacific as far east as South Pacific Islands (Sastry, 1995).
