Description Description: Great variability in disc colour, dark purplish-blue, often marbled with irregular white blotches and a central large white spot, or disc white with blue spots, or disc with reddish lines in the centre. Disc scales naked or covered by some scattered blunt spines or large smooth granules in between the large radial shields. Alternatively, the disc may bear several thorny granules (which can extend to the aboral side of the arms), in addition to the spines mentioned above. Oral and adoral plates are covered by a thick skin. Habitat: coral reef, Cymodocea beds (Balinsky, 1957). [details]
