Note  Description: Length: 43-48 cm. Plumage: above and below dark brown with wide buffy feather edges giving a scalloped appearance; cheeks buffy white; crown and nape dark brown . Immature. Bare parts: iris hazel; bill pinkish red to red, culmen and tip dark brown; feet and legs slate-grey. Habitat: some estuaries but prefer inland water bodies.<388><391><393> [details]
