Description: Branches are thick and most colonies contain mixtures of upright branches and horizontal branches, sometimes on a large, encrusting and sprawling base. The branches are covered with small incipient branchlets which have the appearance of small knobs. Colours of the living coral are usually greenish (Sheppard, 1998).
Colonies consist of thick upright or prostrate branches covered with short stubby branches covered with short stubby branchlets. Corallites are of even size and distribution. Colour: usually pinkish-brown, occasionally green (east Australia), bright green (west Australia). Abundance: common, may occur in any Acropora assemblage. Colonies in turbid water may attain great sizes (over 15 m) (Veron, 1986). [details]
