Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorIdentification This is not Alcyonium ficus Pallas, 1766, nor Linnaeus, 1767. as expressly indicated by Johnston, 1842. He mentioned Esper's (1829) plate as belonging to Halichondria ficus but it is more likley that Esper's record concerns the same tunicate species as Pallas'record. [details]
