Hymeniacidon dujardini sensu Bowerbank, 1866 was intended as a transfer of Halisarca dujardini Johnston, 1842; however, Bowerbank's specimen belonged to a different genus than Johnston's for which reason Burton (1930) erected a new species, Hymedesmia broendstedi as a replacement for Bowerbank's dujardini.
