Status This name appeared in an overview of sponge names erected in 1907 made by Weltner. He cites Thiele, 1905 as its source, but there is no such combination found in that publication. At a guess, Weltner misprinted Myxilla chilensis as Mycale chilensis, but there is no way to prove this. Since there is no specimen mentioned, no description given and no illustration provided, the combination Mycale chilensis is a nomen nudum. [details]
