Distribution Kieschnick (1898, 1900) calls his study 'Kieselschwämme von Amboina', but his material was partly also from Thursday Island, NE Australia. Unfortunately, no information of the exact locality of each reported species is given in the text, making type localities uncertain in many cases. We derived the type locality from Hooper & Wiedenmayer, 1994 (p. 320). Apparently, they obtained label information from the type in the Phyletisches Museum in Jena.  [details]
