The Systema Porifera (Cook & Bergquist, 2002) attributed authorship of this subfamily to Bergquist, Sorokin & Karuso, 1999, but they overlooked that Keller (1889) already erected a taxon of the family level to accomodate Phyllospongia and related genera. Authorship is here assigned to Keller, 1889. If Phyllospongiinae remains assigned to the family Thorectidae, then this name is threatened by Phyllospongiidae Keller, 1889 as an older name. Thorectinae can then be maintained as a subfamilial name. [details] | ||||||||||
