Spelling The changed spelling or misspelling Scolecolepis for Scolelepis Blainville, 1828 was a reform first suggested by Louis Agassiz (1846) in his "Nomenclatoris Zoologici Index Universalis .." and presumably adopted from there by Malmgren. Agassiz's suggestion does not qualify as an emendation, and Malmgren's change is an unjustified emendation. The emendation takes Malmgren's authorship and is a junior objective synonym of Scolelepis. Malmgren does not use Blainville's spelling, nor indicate the spelling is different from in Blainville. [details]
