Homonymy Parthenope Schmidt, 1857 is senior to Ctenodrilus Claparède, 1863. However, it is an unavailable name as a junior homonym to Parthenope Weber, 1795 in Decapoda, and two other senior 'Parthenope' usages. [details]

Synonymy According to Weidhase et al (2016:244) the informal words in Lankester (1869) that Claparède "... figures the same worm under the name Ctenodrilus pardalis" is sufficient evidence for the first record of a Ctenodrilus/Parthenope synonymy. They state that "An additional species, described as C. pardalis by Claparède (1863) from Saint-Vaast-la- Hougue (Normandy, France), was later synonymized with P. serrata by Lankester (1869)" However Weidhase et al (2016) indicate that the true relation between the two, P serrata and C. pardalis continued to be discussed and was reviewed in Monticelli 1893. [details]
