Notes  Depth zone: Littoral to upper continental shelf. [details]

Distribution: Cosmopolitan (Griffiths, 1973). [details]

Nomenclature: A lot of authors (e.g. Chevreux & Fage, 1925; Schellenberg, 1942 and Lincoln, 1979) treated Aora gracilis as Aora typica. The latter is a species of the southern hemisphere (Myers & Costello, 1984).

In ERMS: A. gracilis is often misnamed A. typica Kroyer, 1845 in N.Europe [details]

Remark: Placed by Griffiths (1974) in the family Corophiidae, after a revision by J.L. Barnard (1972). But this classification is not totally accepted (cf. ITIS). [details]
