Spelling Salazar-Vallejo (2020) modifies Hartman's octobranchus species name to the spelling of 'octobranchia' for the placement in feminine genus Saphobranchia, but this seems incorrect. No comment is made about it in text. The use of 'branchus' as part of a genus name noun is very common (up to 800 usages in WoRMS and there is a trichobranchid genus Octobranchus, but 'branchus' as part of a species name is uncommon. It is a noun form (as it is in genera) and no previous case could be found where a 'branchus' species name was changed for gender agreement to 'branchia' or the more plausible 'brancha', or to anything else. It is best treated as noun in apposition, rather than as an adjectival form modifiable for genus gender. Whereas cases where an obviously adjectival branchiatus becames branchiata or the reverse do exist, and there are over 200 'branchiata'-based adjectival species names. Two directly applicable adjectival examples are Pimlicocrinus octobranchiatus and Dichograptus octobranchiatus, both fossils. [details]
