The author inadvertently introduced this species as new to science by describing several characters and using the species name. Zelinka (1908) did not mention any locations, so a type locality and type specimens do not exist. Genus and species name did not agree in gender at this time and were subsequently emendet in Zelinka (1928).

Etymology [This information is taken from Zelinka (1928, pp. 323-325): The species name was derived from Latin flavus, golden-yellow, and probably referred to the yellow cells pigmenting the animals - p. 325: "Gelbe Zellen (gz) finden sich in beträchtlicher Größe hauptsächlich am Rücken, an den Genitalsträngen und an den Skalidenbasen angesiedelt. Sie sitzen auch außen auf dem Panzer des Tieres." = Yellow cells (gz) of considerably size are mainly located at the back, in the genital area and at the bases of the scalids. Zelinka (1908) did not mention any locations, so a type locality and type specimens do not exist.
