Unreviewed: has not been verified by a taxonomic editorSynonymy G.O. Sars (1878) mentioned the strong similarity between Altenaeum dawsoni and Mysella maltzani Verkrüzen, 1876. Because of this Madsen (1949) and Bernard (1979b) presumed that Altenaeum dawsoni would be a junior synonym of Montacuta dawsoni Jeffreys, 1864. According to Backeljau et al. (1984a) however, it is about two different species. [details]
