Taxonomy Schiøtte (1998) listed Philine laevissima M. Sars, 1859 and Utriculopsis vitrea M. Sars, 1870 as synonyms of Diaphana hiemalis but this was rebutted by Ohnheiser and Malaquias (2013) who considered these to be distinct and renamed them Philine confusa Ohnheiser and Malaquias, 2013. [details]
