Synonymy Taboada et al (2019) removed Fauvel's 1943 species ‘chondrocladiae’ from synonymy with Neopolynoe acanellae (Verrill, 1881) where it had been placed by Bock et al (2010), and they included Neopolynoe africana Kirkegaard, 2001 as a synonym of the new combination Neopolynoe chondrocladiae. They also included in the synonymy seven earlier name combinations relating to the separate species Neopolynoe acanellae (Verrill 1881), and its current junior synonym Nemidia antillicola Augener, 1906. However, these names cannot be synonyms of N. chondrocladiae unless the usages were as misidentifications, as the original names are senior names to N. chondrocladiae. The authors advise that it was not their intention to assert the later usages mentioned with the names were misidentifications, and that these name mentions are not synonyms of N. chondrocladiae (Geoff Read, December 2019) [details]
