Nomenclature Garbary (1987: 169) cites this species as Acrochaetium seiriolanum (Gibson) Børgesen (1902) and other authors attribute it to Rosenvinge (1924: 390) who said "hodochorion seiriolanum Gibs., described in 1890 by Harvey Gibson (Journ. Linn. Soc. Bot. Vol. 28, p. 204) has a monostromatical layer resembling that of Rh. penicilliforme. In a specimen of the same species from the Færoes kindly communicated to me by Dr. F. Børgesen I found that the cells contain one single chromatophore with a thick central portion including a pyrenoid. Tlie species must certainly be referred to the genus Chantransia. This statement does not constitute a transfer, and INA attributed the combination to Hamel (1927: 102) [details]
