Notes  Etymology: Derivation of Thelepus. Leuckart states "Von [thele (Greek)], Warze [nipple], und [pous (Greek)] Fuss [foot]." Foot in Greek is pous podos, masculine. Nipple in Greek is thele, feminine. The combined word takes gender masculine of the 2nd word, and the stem for a higher level category is thus 'Thelepod' rather than 'Thelep' as pointed out by Holthe (1976).
