Grammatical gender Greek compound nouns transliterated into Latin ending in -opsis (= having the appearance of) are feminine as genus names (Art. 30.1.2 examples), thus Sphaerodoropsis Hartman & Fauchald, 1971 is feminine. This is reinforced by the ending they gave to their two of their three new species 'corrugata' and 'longipalpa' (the other was invariant 'elegans'). However they did not correct their chosen type species which they left as masculine 'sphaerulifer' instead of 'Sphaerodoropsis sphaerulifera'.
Probably a number of the current Sphaerodoropsis names are incorrect for gender suffix agreement (neuter or masculine instead of feminine).
