Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorEtymology Not stated but obviously named for G. M. R. (Georg Marius Reinald) Levinsen (1850-1914) who had described Aonides fulgens in 1884 (now Paraonis fulgens). Aonides gracilis Tauber was also included, and later was decreed (ICZN) the type species. [details]

Checked: verified by a taxonomic editorGrammatical gender Although named after a man (Georg Marius Reinald Levinsen) Levinsenia is feminine because Mesnil did not specify gender, nor indicate he knew Levinsen was a man, combined with that the genus name ends in an -a (decreed by Art.30.2.4). In ICZN Opinion 1139 of 1979 it is also stated that Levinsenia is feminine (as is Paraonis). [details]
