Type designation In the Fell (1966) the type species of Araeosoma is listed as "Calveria fenestratum Thomson, 1872, p. 494; OD". In Morsensen (1903), however, no type species was designated. The originally included speacies are: Calveria fenestrata Thomson, Asthenosoma coriaceum Agassiz, Asthenosoma tesselatum Ag., and Araeosoma belli n. sp. The first type designation that I could find was that of Agassiz & Clark (1909: 174), who mentioned Calveria fenestrata as type species. [details]
