synonymy The genus Psammodasys was first described in 1967, in an unpublished thesis and was - at that time - thus a nomen nudum. A regulatory publication of its description didn't appear until 1974. In this publication, the genus is the object of discussion versus the genus Paradasys and in another work (published in the same year and in the same magazine) the comparison was made between Psammodasys and Cephalodasys. d'Hondt considers Psammodasys as valid and distinct from Paradasys and Cephalodasys, but considering 1974 as creation date. [details]
