Taxonomic remark Orbigny (1847) spelled the genus as 'Hemithiris', Dall (1871) changed the genus spelling to 'Hemithyris' which was accepted by most later authors (e.g., Dall, 1920). However this spelling change was later realized as unjustified per the ICZN and 'Hemithiris' reinstated as the correct spelling. [details]
