The genus Serpula of sub-family serpulinae is represented in India by a single known species S. vermicularis. Investigations on the west coast of lndia revealed that the genus is represented by as many as eight species of which S. indica is new to science and six are new records to India. The worms were found to be associated with a variety of fauna and flora like Molluscs, Gastropods, lsopods, Sipunculids, Crustaceans, polychaete, annelids and algae.
