This paper deals with five species of Hydromedusae found in Bahía de la Ascención,Mexico (19 45´ N and 87 30´ W). These are:Euphysa aurata Forbes,1848,Sarsia gracilis Browne,1902,Tiaranna rotunda (Quoy & Gaimard,1827),Phialidium discoidum (Mayer,1900) and Tetraotoporpa siankaanensis new genus and species.The first four species are well known;the latter is here described.The new genus is comparable to Otoporpa Hau Chen-tsu and Chang Chenpiao,1978,which is characterized by eight tentacles,eight stomach pouches,eight peronia and otoporpae.Tetraotoporpa new genus is characterized by four tentacles,four stomach pouches,four peronia and otoporpae. It is possible that an evolutionary trend exists from a tetramerous simple form,such as Tetraotoporpa,to a complex octamerous form as Otoporpa.A full list of genera in the family Aeginidae is added.
