Distribution The range (about 850 km across) is largely restricted to the Coastal Plain of southcentral United States, and is situated primarily within the lower Mississippi River drainage basin. Few records are just to the north of the Coastal Plain. [details]
Habitat Epigean: roadside ditches, small streams, small creeks, sloughs, cypress swamps, ponds, and pools. In association with C. pseudogracilis and Synurella bifurca. Mistakenly called a troglobite [stgygobite/cave animal] by Nicholas (1960), Krekeler and Williams (1966), and troglophile [stygophile] by McDaniel and Smith (1976). [details]
