Taxonomy Leiochone was erected by Grube (1868), without formality, for Clymene urceolata, Leidy, and Cl. leiopygos Gr. In transl. "These might form a particular group (Leiochone) .." Clymene urceolata is a nomen dubium fide Light (1974:181), and Hartman (1959 catalogue:458) had referred C. urceolata to Asychis and other Leiochone to Clymenura. However, much earlier Arwidsson (1906:144) appears to regard Leiochone leiopygos as type of the genus, thus the status of C. urceolata (in any case indeterminable rather than definitely placeable elsewhere) is not relevant. Leiochone is valid, as is Clymenura. [details]
