Plicatotheca anitae, n.gen., n.sp. (Hydrozoa:Phialellidae) is described from material collected on coral rubble at a depth of 60 - 90 m off Bermuda. The species has previously been reported from a depth of 430 m off Durban, South Africa, as Opercularella sp. Plicatotheca is distinguishable from the related genera Opercularella, Dipleuron, and Phialella in having linguiform opercular facets that do not close tightly over the hydrotheca when folded. Plicatotheca anitae resembles Opercularella denticulata (Clarke, 1907), but differs in both colony form and opercular structure. Gonophores of P. anitae are presently unknown.
