Description Trichomes free-floating, solitary, rarely up to 2110 μm long (?), but usually ± short, straight or slightly bent or coiled, isopolar, narrowed at both ends and pointed, not or very slightly constricted at the cross-walls, which are sometimes hardly visible in the light microscope; trichomes slightly disintegrate, free segments rounded at one or both ends. Cells cylindrical, light or greyish blue-green, with homogeneous content or facultatively with solitary, elongated aerotopes, mostly 2-5 (10) x lon¬ger than wide, (0.8) 1-2.5 (3.3) μm wide in the middle, at the ends elongated, narrowed, mostly 1.6 μm wide and sharply pointed. Heterocytes lacking. Akineteswith intercalary development, solitary or 2-4 in a row, cylindrical, long ellipsoid or barrel-shaped, with smooth, colourless or brownish exospore, with pale blue-green and granular content, rounded or flattened at the ends, (5.5) 6.5-16 (32) x (2) 2.5-5.2 (6.4) μm. [details]
