Early Permian sediments widely distributed in the Alge Mountain of Xinjiang are extensively exposed in simple structure and represented by 2219 to 11815 m of rocks, most of which are marbles feldspathic sandstones, congIomerates, mudstones and bioclastic limestones containing abundant fusulinids. Two fusulinidbearing formations are recognized with their sequences and ages indicated as follows:2. Kaerwa Formation—— Early Permian Maokuo Stage, with Polydiexodina praecursur Lloyd, P. douglasi Lloyd, P. ruoqiangensis sp. nov., Neoschwagerina markamica Zhang, Afghanella schencki Thompson, A. sp., Yangchienia haydeni Thompson, Toriyamaia sp. indet.1. Biyunshan Formation- Early Permian Chihsia Stage, with Misellina claudiae (Deprat), M. ovalis (Deprat), Brevaxina, sp., Staffella sphaerica (Abich), S. sp.The new species Polydiexodina ruoqiangensis desczribed in the Chinese text is known from the Kaerwa Formation.
