Taxonomic and systematic examination of three foraminiferal species originally recorded from the Lias/Dogger by Bartenstein & Brand (1937) results in the recognition of two new Bajocian species: Subhercynella paucinodula and S. parkinsoniana. The upper Bajocian subspecies Lenticulina (Astacolus) polymorpha arachne is raised to specific rank as S. arachne (Kopik 1969), which replaces the name used previously L. tricarinella (Reuss 1863) a typical lower Cretaceous taxon. Following comparison of the NW German material with Jurassic foraminifera from Australia it has become necessary recognise a new Australian lower Bajocian species, Astacolus subargonauta n. sp.
