From editor or global species database
Spelling In the original paper (Desor 1842) two different spellings have been used for this species: “Munsteri” (p. 9, 25-26, pl. 4) and “Münsteri” (p. 9, 27, 29). The species was named after Georg Graf zu Münster, a palaeontologist (Desor 1842: p. 26), which could thus be taken as “clear evidence of an inadvertent error“ (ICZN 1999 Art. 32.5.1). Furthermore, L. Agassiz & Desor (1847b: p. 33) acting as “First Reviser” (ICZN 1999 Art. 24.2.) choose the spelling “Münsteri”.
The spelling that has to be used thus is “Münsteri”, which according to ICZN 1999 Articles 32.5.2.1 and 32.5.2.5. is to be spelled “muensteri”.
