Authority Attributed to Valenciennes by L. Agassiz (1841: p. 116), who was the first to recognize its difference from Laganum tonganense according to Agassiz. Valenciennes, however, never appears to have actually published the name, and thus Agassiz's use is the first to make the name validly available.
